Andy on Tour - 2nd report
Rained out in South Carolina
Editor's Note: Owen Sound native Andy Myatt is currently playing on the Hooters Pro Golf Tour's Carolina Series based in the Myrtle Beach area. He will be sending regular reports which will be posted on this website. This is his second report.
Last night my brother Jeff arrived at the airport and my roommate Matt McKelvie and I welcomed him to Myrtle Beach!
I was so excited to see him as we spend so much time together during the summer it is different not coming home to have a chat at night.
Today we played a practice round at Meadowlands Golf Club where my next event is on Tuesday (Nov. 17).
The course is over 7,000 yards and is very wet, which doesn't help with the distance.
I hit the ball solidly and got a good feel for the golf course, with help from Jeff of course.
Last week at Black Bear Golf Club we were rained out after day 1 as we received over 6 inches in 24 hours.
I approached Matt (a former college teammate)about joining me here in Myrtle Beach as we are great friends and I knew he had the game to succeed at this level.
I wasn't expecting him to come firing out of the gate with a 67 and round 1 lead at Black Bear, but it did lead to some interesting sleeps before rounds 2 and 3 which were eventually rained out last week.
I think I was 1 or 2 strokes from the cut, bogeyed my first 2 holes and also my last hole. Shot 74.
The weather has now drastically changed and was 75 degrees today with sun.
I have continued to work on improving my swing this past week and it seems to be coming together.
With my putting feeling confident I am looking for a good outing this week.
Having Matt here with me is great, as we practice and play together. Having someone to keep an eye on your swing is also always a bonus.
