Cobble Beach rated 24th

Three Grey-Bruce golf courses have been ranked among the top-100 public or private courses in Ontario.
In its fall edition, Ontario Golf Magazine rated Cobble Beach Golf Links near Owen Sound 24th, the private Georgian Bay Club near Clarksburg 26th and Thornbury's Raven Golf Club at Lora Bay 38th.
The private St. George's Golf and Country Club in Etobicoke was the top-ranked club. In the rating of the top 50 golf courses you can play in Ontario, Cobble Beach was 8th and the Raven at Lora Bay 11th.
Cobble Beach and the Raven were rated the third and 5th best new golf courses in Canada, respectively, in 2007.
Cobble, designed by Doug Carrick along the shores of Georgian Bay, was also rated best new course in Ontario in 2007 and Third Best New Course in Canada by Golf Digest in 2008.
Cobble Beach general manager John Anderson said he's pleased with the rating and is hoping to "inch up the list" as more raters come to play the course.
"There are a lot of great golf courses who have been in existence for 100 years on that list and they are all outstanding," he said.
While Cobble Beach is a relative newcomer, Anderson believes it offers something unique in Ontario - a links-style course with stunning views of Georgian Bay on every hole.
"With the views and vistas and the playability of the golf course I think, at the end of the day, it provides an excellent golf experience for all levels," he said.
