Chapman 15th at Canadian Amateur
Thornbury resident best among local golfers
Megan Chapman of The Georgian Bay Club was the top local finisher at the Royale Cup Canadian Women's Amateur Championship at Royal Oaks Estates and Golf Club in Moncton, New Brunswick. The 24-year-old Thornbury resident shot rounds of 74-70-79-72 to finish tied for 15th. Kincardine's Taylor Schmidt shot 76-77-81-78 & finished tied for 40th while fellow Kincardine resident Brianna Cooper went 81-74-80-78 to finish tied for 46th. The event was won by Jennifer Kirby of Paris, Ont., who shot 71-66-73-71 to finish with a -6 total. The championship was held July 28-31.
