Golf Channel reporter loves area
Adam Barr says it's a refreshing change

Golf Channel reporter Adam Barr, right, interviews Canadian pro Jon Mills during the final day of the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic at The Georgian Bay Club.
Golf Channel reporter Adam Barr isn't accustomed to wearing a jacket in July but he said he loved covering the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic. "The people are charming, the summer temperatures are comfortable. It has been a wonderful visit," he said near the end of four days of live coverage on the Golf Channel. "As a resident of Florida, I find it a great change and a refreshing change to have the water, good golf land and the mountains right up next to it," he said about the Blue Mountains area. "We find the golf courses visually appealing because of the red fescue and the way the wind waves through it." He added that Canadians are among the most loyal viewers of The Golf Channel and the Gretzky event is one of the more popular Nationwide events they cover. The event, featuring 160 Nationwide Tour pros, celebrities and amateurs, was held July 6-12 at the Raven Golf Club at Lora Bay and The Georgian Bay Club. Both clubs are located east of Owen Sound near Thornbury, Ontario.
