PGA officials say conditioning tops on the Nationwide Tour

Kevin Johnson, second on the Nationwide Tour's money list, tees off at the 11th hole at The Georgian Bay Club near Thornbury. Ontario during the 2009 Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic.
While the Nationwide pros and the celebrities garnered most of the attention during the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic, the golf courses were also star attractions of the July 6-12 event. PGA officials told Georgian Bay Club president Larry Dunn that his course is number one on the Nationwide Tour in terms of conditioning and would rank third or fourth on the PGA Tour. Dunn played in the event with Nationwide veteran and former PGA Tour player Ben Bates, who said the Georgian Bay greens were the fastest he's played during his 25 years on tour. Tournament host Wayne Gretzky also raved about both the Georgian Bay Club at the Raven Golf Club at Lora Bay. He said an official from the PGA told him on the final day of the event that the Georgian Bay greens were as good as any he's seen in 30 years.
