Glenn 49th in Ontario Amateur
18-year-old top finisher among local golfers
Justin Glenn, 18, of Owen Sound Golf and Country Club shot rounds of 73-75-76-74 to finish tied for 49th at the Ontario Amateur Championship at Craigowan Golf Club in Woodstock. The event was won by Matt Hill of Sarnia Golf and Curling Club who shot rounds of 69-67-69-65 to finish at 14-under-par and seven shots ahead of second place finisher Simon McInnis, a public player. The 20-year-old Hill, who attends North Carolina State, won the NCAA Division I championship and is currently ranked the #2 amateur in the world. Blake Thompson, another golfer with connections to the Grey-Bruce area, shot rounds of 77-72-75-73 to finish tied for 47th. Thompson, 16, of Listowel previously played on the Grey-Bruce Junior Golf tour. Steve Irving, 48, of Owen Sound GC&C shot 74-77 and missed the cut by two strokes. Mount Forest resident Jordan Barber, 18, who plays out of Pike Lake Golf and Country Resort, shot 78-74 and also missed the cut.
