Schmidt comes up short
Misses cut at U.S. championship
Taylor Schmidt, 18, of Kincardine, Ont. shot rounds of 77 & 80 and missed the cut by five strokes at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship.
She finished tied for 94th in the stroke play portion of the tournament.
One hundred and fifty-six women competed in the event with the top 64 advancing to match play, which began June 23 and wraps up June 27.
The stroke play winner was Stephanie Kono of Honolulu, Hawaii who shot 70-68 to finish at -6. The tournament was held at Redtail Golf Club in Devens, Mass. (near Boston).
