Cobble Beach captures Golf Digest award

Ranked 3rd in Best New Canadian Course category

The accolades just keep on coming for Cobble Beach Golf Links. The links-style course near Owen Sound has been selected by Golf Digest as one of America's Best New Courses of 2008 in the "Best New Canadian" category.

Cobble Beach received a third place ranking by Golf Digest's course raters who evaluate candidate courses on shot values, design variety, resistance to scoring, memorability and aesthetics.

"We are thrilled with this latest award," said Mike Doyle, Director of Operations for Cobble Beach Golf Links. "It's another significant milestone in our determination to establish Cobble Beach as a world class golf destination."

Courses that opened, or reopened after a remodel, between May 1, 2007 and April 30, 2008 were evaluated for the ranking.

The prestigious Golf Digest ranking caps a two-year run of awards for the Doug Carrick-designed course. Last year Cobble Beach Golf Links was named Best New Course in Ontario 2007 by Fairways Magazine; Best New Course in Ontario for 2007 by Ontario Golf magazine; and placed third for Best New Course in Canada in 2007 by SCOREGolf. Fairways also awarded Cobble Beach's Richard Wengle-designed Clubhouse as the Best New Clubhouse in Ontario in 2007.

The new ranking appears in the January 2009 issue of Golf Digest which is now available on newsstands.
