Best Bang For Buck
Owen Sound, BlackHorse among best in Ontario
Two Grey-Bruce golf courses have made it onto Ontario Golf Magazine's "Best Bang for the Buck" list. Owen Sound Golf and Country Club made the top-20 and BlackHorse Golf and Country Resort was among the other 56 courses chosen as offering the best value for $65 or less during prime time hours. Owen Sound was described as a well-conditioned classic with an old-fashioned feel to it. Referring to its moniker as the "Jewel of Georgian Bay," panel member Laura Aiken of Bay Area Golfing magazine said "it's definitely a gem." Panel members noted that BlackHorse has "two spectacular holes carved out of a former gravel pit, offering dramatic views and the challenge of playing around a five-acre spring-fed lake." In 2007, BlackHorse was named the best public course in southern Ontario by London Free Press golf writer John Hebert. He also gave it the best greens award and his all-time number one ranking. BIackHorse is located between Kincardine and Walkerton near Kinloss. The Best Bang for the Buck feature appeared in OG's mid-summer edition.
