Named for the scenic Sauble River which flows past its 3rd and 4th holes, the Sauble Golf & Country Club lies on the gently rolling Algonquin plain that is well treed throughout. The wide variety of coniferous and deciduous trees, including poplars, willows and skyrocket cedars, makes for a colourful backdrop for your game, especially in the fall. One of the most picturesque and toughest holes is the sixth - a 150-yard par three that requires a tee shot over water to an elevated green. Because of the presence of the water many golfers tend to overshoot the green, leaving themselves with an extremely tricky recovery shot in the process. After your round take time to enjoy a drink or a light meal in Bogey's Pub, a favourite place for golfers to unwind and swap tall tales, and then spend the rest of your day at nearby Sauble Beach - one of Canada's best beaches. |
